Day 1 - Foundations in Palliative & End of Life Care Awareness Day

Provides an awareness of the principles of palliative care and how these can be applied to anyone with a life limiting illness and the importance of anticipatory care planning.
Explores the importance of an holistic approach to providing assessment, care and support and the trajectory of the individuals journey from the point of diagnosis. What changes might take place as their health and support needs progress and how these can be best managed.
We explore communication needs between the individual, families and the wider care team.

- How to have difficult discussions in emotional and sensitive situations
- Team working
- How staff can look after themselves when supporting individuals and families to cope with death & dying
- Where to find support, information and guidance
