Keeping Safe.

Description of course

The Keeping Safe Talking Mats resource is a visual framework that has been developed and trialled over 3 years to support service user’s with a learning disability to discuss and identify how safe they feel with different aspects of their lives. 

 The topics are:

Your Wellbeing; Relationships and Thoughts and Feelings.

Keeping Safe provides:

  • A listening space for people with learning disability to raise concerns
  • A structure for staff to find out what people are thinking about their lives, and raise issues that can be difficult to discuss.

You must have completed the talking mats training prior to attending Keeping Safe as you will use your talking mats learning to trial the Keeping Safe topics on given examples.

Who is it for?

Staff who support individuals living with a learning disability.

What will I learn?

Participants will leave the training, informed, practiced and equipped with Keeping Safe symbol set, you may also be asked to feedback on how they felt it was in practice for evaluation purposes. 

Where is the session?

As and when advertised, or can be arranged to meet locality needs.
