Health & Social Care Standards
Our Health and Social Care Standards support us all to understand what we should expect when experiencing health and care services in Scotland.
Our Health and Social Care Standards therefore underpin all our work in health and care and before looking at any other learning we encourage you to take the time to consider what the Health and Social Care standards mean to you, whether that be as a person accessing care and support, or as a worker in care and support, a volunteer or a neighbour, or as a member of your community.
These are the principles of the Health and Social Care Standards

Please have a look at the videos below, alongside the document of the Health and Social Care standards.
You can use them to support your personal learning as well as within teams and group learning spaces.
To help navigate your way through these resources, please use the following questions for your reflection, consideration and discussion.
You can document this as part of your record of learning and use this within your supervision and development discussions.
- How do you feel after watching/reading this?- What does this make you think about?
- Why do you think this has provoked these thoughts and feelings?
- What has this reaffirmed for you about how you work?
- Is there anything you want to change about how you work now?
- If you want to change something, what do you need to do now?
- Is there anything else that is emerging for you from your learning right now?
